Authorities on Friday suspended internet services across the entire Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, including Doda town, Bhaderwah, Bhalesa and Thatri, as a precautionary measure to maintain security, officials said.
Officials said the internet shutdown has been enforced across the district until further orders as part of preventive security measures.
The decision comes in the wake of a firing incident late on Thursday night in which a man was killed and three Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel were injured.
Security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident, while the deceased’s family has demanded a fair and transparent probe.
According to officials familiar with the matter, the firing took place after the man allegedly attempted to snatch a service rifle during a police operation.
