At least 13 people have died, among them 11 children, following Pakistani air strikes across three Afghan provinces, according to Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid.
The attacks, which also wounded at least 14 others, all women and children, were carried out by Islamabad in violation of Afghan airspace, hitting civilian homes in Kunar, Khost, and Paktika.
Pakistani has not yet issued an immediate response. However, security officials confirmed that Islamabad conducted the strikes, describing them as operations against “hideouts and other facilities of the Pakistani militants using them against Pakistan.”
Islamabad has repeatedly accused Kabul of sheltering militants who launch attacks inside Pakistan. The Taliban reject these allegations, maintaining that militancy within Pakistan is a domestic issue. The renewed hostilities threaten to disrupt a prolonged period of relative calm between the two neighbors, once allies, now adversaries, who fought their most intense clashes in years this past February.
