Peoples Democratic Party MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra on Sunday appealed to the government and judiciary to consider the bail application of MP Engineer Rashid, whose father is reportedly battling for life on ventilator support.

Parra in a post on X said he has witnessed the pain of many undertrials and their families and urged authorities to show compassion in the present case.

He said no father should die with the pain of seeing his children suffer for political reasons, adding that Er Rashid, despite being an elected representative, continues to remain in Tihar jail while also being a Member of Parliament.

As someone who has witnessed the pain of many undertrials and their families suffering, appeal to the government and the court to consider the bail application of MP Er Rashid, whose father is battling for life and on ventilator support.

Parra said if courts fail to take note of the situation of an elected leader, it raises serious questions about the process and the criminal justice system.

He emphasized that compassion must remain central to justice, stating that a son being unable to see his dying father or share those final moments is “worse than death.”

Highlighting the emotional dimension, Parra said political and ideological differences should never become so harsh that a father and son are denied the chance to meet for the last time.

He further remarked that such instances in Kashmir often turn personal pain into collective resentment, adding that “reham” is the only appeal in such circumstances, while urging authorities to release Er Rashid.
