Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Monday searched a house in Anantnag district, seizing two mobile phones as part of a terror investigation. Officials said a team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police conducted the search at the residence of a woman suspect in Janglat Mandi. Two mobile phones and their associated SIM cards were recovered from the suspect and taken for analysis.

Two separate accidents were reported on NH-44 in Ramban district on Saturday morning, with the second involving a QRT vehicle dispatched to rescue passengers injured in the first accident. Police have registered a case against a man for impersonating government officials and cheating people through social media in Shopian district, officials said here on Saturday. An official said that the accused is involved in impersonating officials of various government administrative offices and deceiving people. “The allegations include impersonation of a public servant, cheating and fraud, criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint,” the official said. The accused was identified as Umer Shamaim Ganie, son of Mohd Shamiam Ganie, a resident of Meemander, Shopian. Students of the Central University of Kashmir protested on Thursday over allegations that the head of the chemistry department had harassed a female student, prompting the university administration to initiate steps for an internal inquiry. Police in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested more than 4,000 people in cases linked to drug trafficking since the launch of an anti-drug campaign in April, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat said on Thursday.
