Sujit Kumar, the newsly appointed Inspector General of Police for the Kashmir Zone, Friday underscored that anti-terror and counter-insurgency efforts will remain the top priority for the Kashmir Police.

Making his inaugural field visit to the summer capital since taking over the reins on Thursday evening, Kumar assessed the on-ground security posture and inter-departmental synergy at key venues anticipated to draw sizeable crowds in observance of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

When asked about the recent uptick in operational activity across the valley, IGP reiterated the force’s unwavering stance. He noted that security personnel have conducted numerous successful missions in various districts over recent days, yielding substantial seizures. “Operations have remained our first priority in the past and will continue to remain our first priority,” Kumar told reporters.

“I joined you yesterday, and today we are here first to assess the coordination of our police team and other agencies,” he explained.

Acknowledging the inconvenience caused, he remarked, “Many people are offering prayers today, so we seek your cooperation. We understand that movement is difficult for the public.”

Reaffirming the commitment of the Kashmir Zonal Police, Kumar assured the citizenry that the force remains steadfast in its duty to safeguard lives and property while implementing all necessary measures to uphold tranquility and stability across the region. “I congratulate everyone and want to assure the people that the Zonal Police is always there for you,” he concluded.
