Crescent moon not sighted in India, Eid to be celebrated on Saturday

Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed across India on Saturday, following the non-sighting of the Shawwal moon on Thursday evening.

According to media reports, Mufti Adil of the Ru’yat-e-Hilal Committee at Jama Masjid confirmed that the festival will be held on March 21. A similar announcement was made from the historic mosque by Naib Shahi Imam Syed Shaban Bukhari.

In Lucknow, Maulana Khalid Rasheed, the Chairman of the Lucknow Islamic Center, also declared that Eid festivities will take place on Saturday.

Additionally, the President of the Deccan Muslim Ulema Council Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed that since the crescent was not visible today, India will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 on March 21.
