The much-anticipated National Conference (NC) legislature party meeting on Wednesday took a dramatic turn after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led party legislators and supporting Independent MLAs to an undisclosed location for deliberations.

The development sparked speculation in political circles after reports suggested that the venue of the meeting had been changed at the last moment. However, Omar Abdullah refuted such claims through a post on X.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you but it has NOT ‘been shifted at the last moment’. It was always my intention to conduct this meeting off-site and all arrangements had been made, days in advance, at the location originally chosen by me,” the Chief Minister wrote.

Adding intrigue to the development, NC MLA Bashir Ahmad Veeri shared a photograph on X showing Omar Abdullah and other legislators travelling in a tempo traveler. Captioning the image, Veeri wrote, “Crossed Shalimar for unknown destination!”

The unusual manner in which the meeting was conducted has drawn widespread attention, particularly in the backdrop of recent political exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition over the purpose and agenda of the gathering.

Sources said that the meeting is expected to focus on key political and governance-related issues, though the exact venue and detailed agenda have not been officially disclosed. (JKNS)
