Jammu and Kashmir received 3,780 applications seeking deletion of names from electoral rolls and 8,050 applications for voter enrolment during special camps held from October 10 to 12, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office said.

The Union Territory also received 5,654 applications for corrections or modifications to electoral records during the three-day period, according to data shared by the Chief Electoral Officer on X.

The applications were received as part of the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Drive, which aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.

More than 11,860 Booth Level Officers, 90 Electoral Registration Officers and 243 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, along with four migrant AEROs, are participating in the exercise, the office said.

Awareness camps are being held across the Union Territory, while district authorities have been directed to organise meetings with political parties to facilitate voter enrolment.

Booth Level Officers are sharing lists of absent, shifted, dead and duplicate electors to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls. They have also been directed to focus on eligible voters who remain unregistered, including persons with disabilities, women and marginalised communities.

Eligible citizens can apply for enrolment using Form 6 throughout the year, as electoral roll updates are a continuous process, the office said.
