The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday termed as fake a purported order regarding the preponement of a holiday on account of Urs Hazrat Ameer Kabir that is being circulated on social media platforms.

In an official alert, authorities clarified that the order was fabricated and had not been issued by the General Administration Department (GAD).

The government advised citizens not to share unverified information and urged the public to rely only on official government platforms and handles for authentic updates.

Officials also warned that spreading fake news is a punishable offence and said strict legal action would be taken against those found circulating forged documents or misinformation online.
