Iran has proposed a seven-day roadmap to end the war, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi telling reporters that Tehran is ready to begin implementing the plan as soon as the United States agrees to it.

Araghchi detailed the proposal to reporters outside the UN Security Council on Friday, saying it would also restart stalled talks with the US on Iran’s nuclear programme.

“The seven-day timeline will start as soon as the United States accepts this plan,” he said.

In comments cited by Al Jazeera, US State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said the door to diplomacy with Iran “has been open since the beginning,” adding: “It’s not the United States that has stopped that from happening.”

Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Force Commander Brig. Gen. Mohammad Karami said the country is “engaged in a full-scale combined war that has economic, social, cultural, political, security, defence, and cognitive dimensions.”

In cognitive warfare, he said, the enemy uses media and cyberspace to influence public opinion and create psychological warfare, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. Karami also referred to Israeli attacks on occupied Palestinian territory, saying Tehran is “standing against oppression and injustice, and this resistance will continue.”

Meanwhile, Mecca Pact nations reaffirmed their commitment to the defence of Saudi Arabia during a meeting in Riyadh, where army chiefs reviewed threats facing the kingdom, according to the Saudi Defence Ministry.
