Environmentalist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk received a rousing welcome in Kargil as locals gathered in large numbers to express solidarity. During his visit, he interacted with residents and shared his recent jail experiences, highlighting the emotional and physical challenges he faced.

Addressing the gathering, Wangchuk rejected claims branding Ladakhis as “anti-national,” calling them baseless and damaging. He emphasized that the people of Ladakh are patriotic and are only demanding constitutional safeguards to protect their land, culture, and fragile environment.

He expressed hope for constructive engagement with the Ministry of Home Affairs, stating that dialogue remains the only path forward. Wangchuk concluded by urging people to stay peaceful, united, and committed to democratic means.
