The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is set to urge the federal government to exempt teachers appointed before Jan. 1, 2019, from appearing in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), according to the agenda for Tuesday’s session.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo will move a resolution calling for statutory amendments to Section 23 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, to provide the exemption.
The resolution also urges the Union government to take necessary legal steps and direct the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to issue the required notification.
The Assembly is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with Question Hour preceding the listed business.
Cooperative Minister Javid Ahmad Dar will also move the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2026, for consideration and passage.
