Abhijeet Dipke, the convenor of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has been publicly invited to join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Union Minister Ramdas Athawale made the pitch on Monday, urging the young activist to align with his Republican Party of India (A) in order to realize the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar while also bolstering both social unity and the party’s strength.
As of now, Dipke has not issued any response to Athawale’s overture. This silence is notable given the CJP leader’s previous firm stance against entering the political fray, wherein he has argued that public confidence in both the political system and the electoral machinery has been severely undermined.
Speaking to reporters, Athawale described Dipke as an active young Ambedkarite and suggested that joining the RPI (A), which is currently a constituent of the ruling BJP-led coalition at the Centre, would be a constructive step.
The minister also remarked that the government stands for penalizing wrongdoing, a statement seemingly referencing the recent CJP-backed student demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. Those protests, which highlighted widespread irregularities and the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, ultimately forced Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign.
Despite the fresh invitation, Dipke has consistently reiterated that he has no political aspirations. Earlier this month, he made it clear that the CJP is meant to function as a mass movement rather than morph into a political outfit.
