The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday called off its protest with immediate effect amid talks with the government and resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a party leader said.
“We declare withdrawal of our protest with immediate effect,” CJP leader Saurav Das told reporters, according to news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).
The announcement came after multiple rounds of discussions between CJP representatives and Union ministers over the party’s demands and proposed reforms including resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Our demands were not radical but basic, and the government has now accepted them said CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka.
He further said, “Govt accepted all our demands after 36 days of protest; we urge everyone to peacefully withdraw from protests sites.”
According to CJP leaders, while the government addressed some of the key concerns that triggered the protest, several demands are yet to be fulfilled.
