The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Saturday conducted searches at multiple locations across the Kashmir Valley in connection with an ongoing investigation, officials said.

Searches were carried out in Srinagar, Ganderbal and Anantnag districts as part of the operation, they said.

In Srinagar, a CIK team raided the residence of Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, son of Noor Mohammad Beigh, originally a resident of Dalal Mohalla, Maharaj Gunj, and presently living at Hokarsar in the Shalteng area. The search was underway when the report was filed.

In Ganderbal district, another CIK team led by a deputy superintendent of police conducted searches at the residence of Syed Qalandar Shah in Chountwaliwar Lar, officials said, adding that the operation was also in progress.

In south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, a CIK team, assisted by the local police, searched the residence of Gulzar Ahmad Rather, a resident of Nowgam, Kapran.

During the search, officials seized a Redmi Note 9 Pro mobile phone in connection with FIR No. 07/2023 registered under Sections 153, 506, 13, 18-B and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station JIC CIK Srinagar.

Officials said the search operation in Anantnag concluded peacefully, while raids at other locations were continuing.

Further details are awaited.
