President Donald Trump said the pilots of a helicopter that crashed near the Strait of Hormuz are “fine.”

Trump spoke to journalists after watching the NBA Finals in New York at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The New York Times first reported that a U.S. Army Apache attack helicopter went down near the strait under unclear circumstances.

The crash followed an exchange of fire between Iran and Israel on Monday, jeopardizing talks to solidify a shaky ceasefire in the Iran war.

It was unclear whether the Apache was shot down by Iranian fire, experienced mechanical failure or had another problem, according to the report.

The White House, U.S. Department of State and U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
